BROTHERHOOD

Hi! And welcome to the Brotherhood page of the Temple Shalom website. If you’re new to Temple Shalom or unfamiliar with the Brotherhood, let me offer a glimpse into who we are and what we do.
The Brotherhood is one of the most active and vibrant organizations at Temple Shalom.. Beyond being a social organization planning and enjoying activities among our members we also play a vital role within the Temple at large. We raise and provide funds, hold monthly breakfasts and run social events for the entire Temple Shalom community as well as providing “man power” for jobs around the Temple.

The money we raise is used to support various charitable endeavors and unexpected expenses for Temple Shalom. Our social functions which are fun (and successful), include Comedy nights, a B Street Band performance, road rallies, Brotherhood Shabbat dinner and service, Passover Seder, golf outings, bicycle touring, white water rafting, deep sea fishing and Devils hockey games. Our Brotherhood offers members the opportunity to volunteer and usher at the High Holy Day services, build the Temple Sukkah, run the annual blood drive and participate in Habitat for Humanity builds.

But most important of all we have created a warm and inviting organization for all of us to be part of something special where friendships develop and we all share the common bond of helping foster and nurture the Temple Shalom community.

There are monthly Brotherhood breakfasts where we serve bagels, lox and other gourmet delights. At each breakfast we have interesting and provocative speakers. The $45 annual Brotherhood dues are well worth the breakfasts alone!

First time Brotherhood members and male college undergraduates are free!

We would like to invite you to our next breakfast and/or social event. If you have a child/children in our Religious School, why not drop them off, come upstairs and have breakfast with us? Look for me (I’m wearing a name badge), introduce yourself and we will make you feel warm and welcomed.

If you have any questions about Brotherhood, feel free to e-mail me at tshalomnjbrotherhood@gmail.com. I hope you will accept our invite and consider joining us. It is a great opportunity to do great things for Temple Shalom and the community while meeting some great people and having some fun.

Sincerely,
Stu Kirshbaum,
Temple Shalom Brotherhood President
